Dolphin Job Description

A Dolphin volunteer becomes a friend for a lonely nursing home resident.

Dolphin volunteers

bullet

are matched on a one-to-one basis with nursing or retirement home residents

bullet

develop an ongoing supportive relationship with the resident

bullet

set their own weekly visits

Job Requirements

bullet

a sincere concern for the elderly in nursing or retirement homes

bullet

membership in a church or synagogue

bullet

receive training for this ministry

Responsibilities

bullet

develop an ongoing relationship with the resident with whom they are matched

bullet

visit the resident weekly if at all possible; call or write if a visit is impossible

bullet

serve as a link to the outside world for the resident

bullet

attend Dolphin schools for initial and ongoing training when possible

bullet

maintain contact with the Dolphin coordinator

bullet

inform the nursing home staff and/or the Dolphin coordinator if any problem arises concerning the resident
